BORDER LAB is an innovative, cross-border project between Castile and León (Spain) and the Douro region (Portugal) designed to combat rural depopulation and aging. Its model focuses on providing home- and community-based care, guaranteeing accessible services that respect people's living environments to improve their quality of life and strengthen social cohesion.

1. Consolidation of the "A Gusto en Casa" model to care for dependent individuals in their own environment, facilitating assistance with daily activities, healthcare, and community participation.
2. Research and Knowledge Transfer: Analysis of the health and social care situation in the region and compilation of European policies and experiences to design strategies adapted to peripheral areas.
3. Local Training: Training and capacity building in the region to promote equal access to inclusive long-term care services.
4. Definition of Pilot Protocols: Creation of Technical Instructions for Independent Living Services and intervention protocols for application in rural Portugal and Spain.
